Wednesday Wisdom: Straws are For Suckers!

Straws Are For Suckers

Skip the straw!

Single use straws are made from plastic which never breaks down and the average person uses 580 straws per year within their lifetime.

As time progresses, plastic may separate into smaller pieces but never completely break down which causes many problems for marine wild life.

Plastic straws also can contain BPA which can lead to a number of disorders such as diabetes and heart disease.

Here are Some Ways to Quit Plastic Straws:

  1. Tumblers

Tumblers are a great way to save plastic because they’re reusable!

They’re also easy to find in places such as Starbucks, Walmart, Amazon, and Walgreens.

2. Stainless Steel Straws

Stainless steel straws are reusable and do not contain chemicals that interact with the product you are consuming.

These straws are also easy to clean and dishwasher safe!

Savvy Straws are a great way to save the environment as well and come with their very own cleaning brush to ensure that it’s squeky clean.

This brush is also great for cleaning sport bottles and sippy cups as well!

3. Ice Straws

You can make your own straws in the freezer and they will just melt away after you’re done using them.

4. Skip The Straw:

Say no!

If you don’t have your reusable straw with you, or you just don’t have one no worries. Just take the lid off and slurp away!

There’s always an option if you don’t want to use a straw!

5. Silicone Straws:

These straws are non-toxic, and a healthy alternative rather than plastic straws.

The best part of these straws is that they’re easy to store! You can just toss them in your bag when you’re done using them!

Top 10 Must Try Drinks at Starbucks

The only thing that I would happily stand in line for is Starbucks.

The first time I ever went to Starbucks, I was 17 and just got my first job as a Sales Representative at Roots. I promised myself the first drink I ever tried was going to be the Cotton Candy Frappuccino.  Not only because of how pink it was, but I wanted see for myself if it actually tasted like cotton candy. After my first starbucks drink, I knew I had to try all the others. This is a list of ten Starbucks drinks you have to try if you haven’t yet.

1. The Cotton Candy Frappuccino

This is the perfect drink if you enjoy fruity sweet drinks.

2. The Caramel Frappuccino

The Caramel Frappe also tastes amazing with a shot of expresso if you need an extra boost.

3. The Green Tea Frappuccino

Great if you love the Matcha Monsoon at Booster Juice.

4. Peppermint Mocha

This is the perfect holiday drink.  Every sip has the perfect amount of peppermint and mocha.

5. Teavana Shaken Iced Peach Green Tea

This drink is my summer go to. It’s refreshing, cool, and tastes like Fuzzy Peaches.

6. Pumpkin Spiced Latte

This drink is probably my favourite. During the fall I order one at least twice a week.

7. Hot Chocolate

This has been one of my favourites lately. Starbucks hot chocolate feels like a hug from the inside.

8. Vanilla Frappuccino

Great if you’re looking for a simple, yet delicious drink.

9. Smores Frappuccino

Reminds me of camping, and roasting marshmellows with my family by the campfire. This drink always reminds me summer and spending time with family.

10. Caramel Iced Coffee

This is the drink I get most often from Starbucks. I love that it’s not to sweet or too bitter.
