Wednesday Wisdom: Straws are For Suckers!

Straws Are For Suckers

Skip the straw!

Single use straws are made from plastic which never breaks down and the average person uses 580 straws per year within their lifetime.

As time progresses, plastic may separate into smaller pieces but never completely break down which causes many problems for marine wild life.

Plastic straws also can contain BPA which can lead to a number of disorders such as diabetes and heart disease.

Here are Some Ways to Quit Plastic Straws:

  1. Tumblers

Tumblers are a great way to save plastic because they’re reusable!

They’re also easy to find in places such as Starbucks, Walmart, Amazon, and Walgreens.

2. Stainless Steel Straws

Stainless steel straws are reusable and do not contain chemicals that interact with the product you are consuming.

These straws are also easy to clean and dishwasher safe!

Savvy Straws are a great way to save the environment as well and come with their very own cleaning brush to ensure that it’s squeky clean.

This brush is also great for cleaning sport bottles and sippy cups as well!

3. Ice Straws

You can make your own straws in the freezer and they will just melt away after you’re done using them.

4. Skip The Straw:

Say no!

If you don’t have your reusable straw with you, or you just don’t have one no worries. Just take the lid off and slurp away!

There’s always an option if you don’t want to use a straw!

5. Silicone Straws:

These straws are non-toxic, and a healthy alternative rather than plastic straws.

The best part of these straws is that they’re easy to store! You can just toss them in your bag when you’re done using them!
